On the 24th of May, some of us from The Shoot community met up for another day out, this time in Kilkenny. The theme for this month was Modern Victorian, and the models came prepared with gorgeous outfits and looks that blended traditional Victorian style with modern elements.
In the morning, some of us met up at Heauston Station and made our way to Kilkenny as a group. We all had a nice time chatting on the train and once we made it to Killkenny station, we grabbed some coffees and made our way to the Hurling Statue in the Canal Square to meet up with the rest of the gang. We kicked off the event by shooting at St.John's Bridge and afterwards made our way to Kilkenny Castle Rose Garden to shoot some more. So many stunning shots came out from this location, and we drew in a crowd with all the fancy outfits our models were wearing. Unfortunately, due to bad weather we had to change our plans as the rain got heavy and it was no longer suitable to shoot outside so we thought it would be best to take shelter in a restaurant to wait out the rain. To our surprise, the restaurant we dipped into was the right vibe to suit our theme for the day. The Left Bank restaurant had a beautiful interior, it was the perfect setup for our next location, and the staff was lovely enough to let us take some photos. While at the restaurant, we also took that time to refuel and take a break for a bit. Once the rain had settled and the weather was ok enough to continue, we went on a photowalk down Kieran's Street and surrounding areas before walking back to the train station to head home.
Despite the change in weather, the group adapted quickly and made the most out of each location. The indoor shift was a surprise but ended up working out in our favour. The Left Bank’s decor unexpectedly fit the theme, which created a great contrast for the photographers to the outdoor shots earlier in the day.
As always, it was great to see familiar faces and meet some new ones too. The day was full of creative energy, and thanks to everyone who came along, they helped make it another memorable shoot.
